During this activity, we will celebrate with locally rooted initiatives Natuurlijk Spangen, de Groene Connectie and Zwerfie Rotterdam the opening of two cabinets on the Spoordijk where you can find all kinds of things to keep the Spoordijk clean. Together, we will activate a new season of grasses with seed bombs and invite you to experiment with the Grassroots tools or play the Zwerfie bingo.

Natuurlijk Spangen is a residents' initiative for more greenery in the neighborhood. They try to achieve this with actions such as green (school) squares, façade gardens or by making the existing greenery more natural. At the Buitenplaats in the Spaansebocht, a number of local residents work all year round to maintain the garden and the greenhouse. Sowing and harvesting takes place. Every Wednesday morning, residents are warmly invited to drop by for a cup of coffee.

The Groene Connectie has mapped out a 'green ribbon' through Delfshaven. This ribbon connects existing green initiatives. Besides being a beautiful 8-kilometre walk through Rotterdam West, it is also a tool to link local care and welfare institutions to green initiatives in their own neighborhood. The Groene Connectie map is an invitation to experience the green route and to raise awareness of 'smart combinations in care and green'!

Zwerfie Rotterdam is an initiative to make Rotterdam the cleanest city in the Netherlands. By activating residents to be part of the solution themselves. After all, if one in four Rotterdammers picked up one piece of litter a day, the city would be spotless and the plastics soup would not grow any further.

Plastic waste wanders through the streets and enters the oceans via rivers. It never breaks down and literally comes back on your plate in the form of nanoplastics and then moves right through your cell walls all the way to your brain. Not so fine. Every year, it is estimated that around eight billion kilos of plastic end up in the sea. That is comparable to five full shopping bags on every 30 centimetres of coastline on earth. Birds and fish die en masse because they eat that plastic.
